Grace, why did you choose to make them pointed? Your 1st 'spoke' has a point, but then the picoted one turns into a curve. Was that deliberate ?
It is wonderful to see your design process in the same piece, and how beautifully the design has evolved. One can learn so much just by studying that image :-) Thanks for sharing it
@muskaan: Well, you can see what happened when I made the repeat unit rounded (the crocheted fringe) - it didn't have any shape or definition. I thought it would be better to build on @Coretta's "hills" than to lose their shape in a rounded mass.
Actually, besides the rounded silhouette the I abandoned so quickly, I also toyed with the idea of making something in a paisley shape, since that's something I think of as being Indian. But I couldn't see how to execute the spiral tip in a stable way, so I never actually tried it out.
I LOVE it @GraceT! It feels mandala all the way through. How exciting!
This round robin seems to have petered out - but we're almost there! Wouldn't it be great if we could finish!
So here is an update for everyone:
There are five of us in the Round Robin - myself (I started Doily 1), @Coretta (started Doily 2), @PattyD (started Doily 3), @taryn (started Doily 4) and @tattrldy (started Doily 5).
We agreed that we would each design and tat one or two rounds, then send the doily onwards to the next tatter. I'll call this Stage 1 (doily centre), Stage 2 (added by the next tatter), and so forth. Finally the doily would return to its originator, and she would decide whether to add one final round. The sending order we agreed on was:
Doily 1 : GraceT > Coretta > PattyD > taryn > tattrldy > GraceT
Doily 2 : Coretta > GraceT > tattrldy > PattyD > taryn > Coretta
Doily 3 : PattyD > tattrldy > taryn > Coretta > GraceT > PattyD
Doily 4 : taryn > PattyD > GraceT > tattrldy > Coretta > taryn
Doily 5 : tattrldy > taryn > Coretta > GraceT > PattyD > tattrldy
After some delay, I myself have discharged my obligations to everyone's doilies - see all my contributions here: http://www.craftree.com/projects/1698 So now it just remains for me to receive back the one I started (Doily 1), and see whether I want to add one final round.
However, life intervened - all the doilies are stalled:
Doily 1 at Stage 5 (I think) - my green one with the hexagonal centre
Doily 2 at Stage 5 (I think) - Coretta's green one with the six narrow petals in the centre
Doily 3 at Stage 6, or maybe it's finished - Patty's colourful one - it is now back with her
Doily 4 at Stage 4 (I think) - Taryn's square one
Doily 5 at Stage 5 - tattrldy/Wanda's pink one
Anyway, I would love to see all doilies back with those who originated them. One more design round, and all of them can come home. Let's do it, gals!
While we did some re-modeling in our house I put away Taryn's doily In a safe place so it wouldn't get damaged or too dirty. It was such a safe place I couldn't find it when we finished. Good news! I found it! My round is done except for writing out the pattern and sending it off. I won't have time to do much with it for the next week but then I will finish and send. Thank you @GraceT for getting us back on track with this.

Yippee! I'll look forward to pictures of that!
One lesson I've learned from this: don't have more than four people in a round robin! It just takes too long for the doily to go all the way round - life happens, holiday tatting happens...

Great ESP ! Only a few days back I was thinking of this round robin & wondering what happened to it :-D
Great job of putting it all together
in reply to muskaan's post:
Well, I had been keeping notes in Evernote, so I just dug them up!
I've also saved the instructions we shared among ourselves - I hope it's also not going to be too much trouble to publish the patterns afterwards.
I have a status update from @Taryn! I talked with her on Facebook. She's finished her round (or stage) for my doily, Doily #1, but hasn't posted it onward yet. She hasn't yet received @Coretta's doily (Doily#2). That means Coretta's doily is still with @PattyD (I think). So, the situation is:
Sending order:
Doily 1 : GraceT > Coretta > PattyD > taryn > tattrldy > GraceT
Doily 2 : Coretta > GraceT > tattrldy > PattyD > taryn > Coretta
Doily 3 : PattyD > tattrldy > taryn > Coretta > GraceT > PattyD
Doily 4 : taryn > PattyD > GraceT > tattrldy > Coretta > taryn
Doily 5 : tattrldy > taryn > Coretta > GraceT > PattyD > tattrldy
Status:
Doily 1 at Stage 4 (but almost ready for Stage 5) - my green one with the hexagonal centre
Doily 2 at Stage 4 (I think) - Coretta's green one with the six narrow petals in the centre
Doily 3 at Stage 6, or maybe it's finished - Patty's colourful one - it is now back with her
Doily 4 at Stage 4 (I think) - Taryn's square one
Doily 5 at Stage 5 - tattrldy/Wanda's pink one
If I'm not mistaken, @tattrldy and @PattyD both have two doilies...

I felt the same way when we started doing a few of them. It turned out to be a lot easier than I ever thought it would be. I have only once designed a small design once with a button in the center and that was it. The group I'm in did it three times and and we were all quite pleased with it too. I would have to search around to find the picture ('S). I will put them in a folder on my Craftree.

Have you designed some round robin doilies, then? I hope you do find your pictures - I would love to see them.
I do feel a lot more confident as a designer after taking part in this Round Robin. It pushed me, but it also encouraged me. I am now wondering whether I could design a whole doily! A small one, of course...
in reply to GraceT's post:
All of these doilies are finished, but others have them and I have no pictures. I will try to take a picture of my finished one that I have this morning. Lace group Christmas potluck today at 1 pm. I have to make a dish which I started last night.
in reply to GraceT's post:
I did find what I have and posted them on My Craftree under Round Robin. I have the one yet to enter which I mentioned in the other message. Busy day...
in reply to GraceT's post:
Of course you could. If I could do it so can you. I didn't do a whole doily, but after working on these...why not! Give it a try...
in reply to bjulia_lacer's post:
None of us working on the Round Robin have patterns for any of these...sorry about that too.
Thanks for sharing about your Round Robins, @bjulia_lacer.
I'll put the link here so everyone following here can find it.: http://www.craftree.com/projects/3344?page=1#228210
I've got a lot of WIPs to finish, and some Christmas tatting, too. Bu it would be nice to do another Round Robin...
