@tattrldy this is a magnificent piece. Your additions surely take it up a notch or two!
Thank you, @PattyD and @GraceT! I am so glad I decided to join this Round Robin. It's one thing to design something on my own but to have to come up with ideas to go with another person's ideas is different and fun. I think we are all going to end up with some pretty wonderful doilies when this is over.
@tattrldy, yes, it's a real stimulus to my creativity to receive something in the mail and then to think of something that would suit it. I think I'm better at this sort of thing than designing from scratch.
It's definitely stretching me as far as design goes (not that its hard as this is the first time that I've ever done any designing). I've also realised just how tight I tat when I see my tatting next to others. I'm having to really consciously loosen it to make stitch counts fit.
So here's my round (in need of some blocking). I found that I came up with my design really easily but I had real trouble tatting up a test run. I couldn't get my double picots or josephine knots looking consistent or sitting properly. I ended up just having to tat to the original and working out stitch counts as I went. Quite a few new techniques in this one for me.
Looking at the finished product I'm not too sure I chose the right thread option, but too late now haha.

I think your two rounds look great, and I like your colour choices! I can see that in this doily the colours are important - they are like ripples spreading outwards from the centre.
I like it, too! It's always exciting to see how another tatter puts things together. I didn't have any pre-conceived notions about how my doily would come back to me. But I like what I am seeing. @Taryn, I think your extension of the existing rounds is a very good fit and it hasn't been blocked yet.
Round three on Doily #5 Wanda's Center
It now measures 5.25" across
Also the thread measurements estimate was pretty much perfect on the shuttle I had about 14 inches left, enough to finish working rings and work with ends. That makes me happy.
I really like how this is looking. I'm loving that this doily is mine! :-)
This doily is really turning out wonderfully! I'm looking forward to receiving it next.
It posted on Friday GraceT. The same day I got Patty's Doily from Taryn.
@GraceT My tracking said that It arrived in Singapore on Friday so you should see it soon.
@Coretta, your tracking is spot on. When I opened my mailbox this evening, your package was there! I haven't opened the envelope yet...
I admit, I am having a hard time adding on to doily #3. I think I'm on to something but I'm not sure yet.
in reply to Coretta's post:
Go, @Coretta! I'm sure you can do something nice!
@PattyD we're getting into bigger rounds. I don't think there is going to be enough of a particular color for GraceT. You can send it to me and I will send it along to her or you can send it straight to her. I just did the math and for the round I plan to start tomorrow I'm going to have to split colors. 10 yards on shuttle and almost 13 yards on the chains. I will double check my math tomorrow but I suggest sending 20 -30 yards for remaining rounds.
Thanks for the notice. I tend to be a minimalist, so I am not terribly surprised.
Well, I will find and stash the threads (my lace room is way over full, so I'll start looking for the threads now!)
