I know that I am not involved in this, but will the rest of us get to see these beauties?
@Eagle - We've been posting pictures of our progress in this thread, and in a few projects we created. (We're sharing instructions among ourselves, but won't make them public until all the doilies are done.)
Doily #1 - started by me, added to by @Coretta and @PattyD, now with @taryn:
http://www.craftree.com/projects/2152
(This currently has a picture of the state of the doily after PattyD but before Taryn has added to it.)
Doily #2 - started by Coretta, added to by me, then @tattrldy, now with PattyD:
http://www.craftree.com/projects/2083
Doily #3 - started by PattyD, added to by tattrldy and Taryn, now with Coretta:
http://www.craftree.com/projects/2134
Doily #4 - started by Taryn, added to by PattyD and me, now with tattrldy:
http://www.craftree.com/projects/1698
(In this project I have all the doilies as they pass through my hands. The square doily is Doily #4 started by Taryn, the six-petal flower with butterflies was my Round 2 on Doily #2 started by Coretta, the little one-round snowflake is my start for Doily #1).
Doily #5 - started by tattrldy, added to by Taryn and Coretta, and now with me:
http://www.craftree.com/projects/2174
So all the doilies are now in "Round 4" (i.e., with the fourth person to add to them; often we add more than one round), then they'll go to one more person for "Round 5", then back to the originator for the final round.
Hope that covers it...
@tattrldy I'm having the same trouble with Grace's Doily. None of my ideas have really made me happy yet
Sp glad I'm not the only one. :) i don't like to be the one to hold up the show.
@PattyD the current state of threads. I expect to use all the green on the left and all the pink on one card and some on the other probably 3 yards.
I am definitely behind you all. Still tatting my model - but I'm interrupting it to do a necklace for my aunt for her 77th birthday...
Well done, @taryn! I really like how the doily looks now. And those 12 points are a good foundation for Round 5. Congrats to your sister, too, for her good taste!
I'm planning on typing it up today. Then off to GraceT.
in reply to Coretta's post:
Ooo, Coretta, this is beeeeeautiful !!!!
Wow, @Coretta! That is just amazing! I have a tough act to follow. Time for me to start researching Mehndi...
@GraceT you always do a lovely job. I did try to give you plenty of places to join though. :) As for thread @PattyD, If I was doing the next round I would probably use the purple, but that's up to Grace but even if she did a plain chain all around, there wouldn't be enough thread. So discuss amongst yourselves. :)
That is so beautiful!...just from this beggar....would it be possible to share the pattern you ladies came up with for these doilies?
@Eagle, we're sharing the patterns just among ourselves right now. But when the doilies are done, we do want to publish the patterns!
@GraceT
Let me know where to buy so that I can get a copy!
in reply to Eagle's post:
We haven't discussed this yet! I myself rather expect that we'll be publishing them for free on Craftree...
Just an update:
Yesterday I received from @Coretta Doily #3 (the mehndi-inspired one started by @PattyD).
I'm still sitting on Doily #5 (the pink one started by @tattrldy). I actually finished the design for it two weeks ago, but Christmas intervened, primarily in the form of a tatted necklace for my aunt. That's now finished, so I will get on and finish my part in Doily #5 as soon as I can and send it to PattyD for its "Round 5", then I will get started on Doily #3.
Okay, my part in Doily#5 is done! Here are a couple of pictures:
There are also some progress pictures in my Round Robin project: http://www.craftree.com/projects/1698
@PattyD, this doily will be coming to you quite soon! I'll let you know when I've posted it.
