I agree about bare thread! I am looking forwards to finishing day one and getting to day two, that one looks much more fun to work!
Am I too late to join it, I already have this book and have done a few from it, but it would be nice to do some more from the book. I hope I can keep up with two a month as I am not that good at the moment, Monday is my last day on the Fibromalgia course at Mineral Hospital in Bath so I should have more time to tat. hopefully
Margaret
Tattingmargaret, you are not too late to join. We only try to reach our goal to have tatted all 24 snowflake by Christmas 2016. You may start whenever you feel fine, and just go ahead as it works out with your therapy and course schedule.
Hope you feel better.

Just looked up that course...wish there was something here like that in upstate NY. Good luck!
Nice to "see" you Margaret. As the others said, just join in and do as much and as often as you can.
I am pretty sure I won't have the second one in the next 23 hours, for instance ;-) but the goal for me is to have the 24 before Xmas, so I will catch up.
Looks much better than mine! I didn't have the patientness to work more precise on the bare thread.... Which size did you use?
Permission to substitute day 1 snowflake that I don't like the look of for a snowflake I do like please??
-:))))))) I know what you mean..... I don't like it as well, but went throu it. I am sure there are other I won't like in the book, but I will take it sportif, at least I will tat all items in one book, so I have actually two challenges running at the same time: Making them until Christmas, and making really all of them.
The first one is the only one I really don't like enough to just not do it. So I've decided, I'm going rogue, I'm just not going to. There are many areas in my like where I set myself arbitrary goals or rules, but if something won't add to my happiness then I'm not going to force myself. I think I've found another one that I like that will sit nicely with the others.
Thanks for letting me join in,
KT I am sure no one will mind if you miss number one and then do two of one of the others that are easier for you, as long as you gave 24 at the end from the book does it matter ladies
Soyloquesoy nice to see you to, it's ages since we meet up on here, hooe to see more of you on here
Treetop creations it's a very intense course but it's very beneficial in the long run, fibromyalgia is only just getting the recognition that it is an illness over here, it's been a fight with the government to even say yes there is such an illness yet in the USA it is recognised as an illness and you gave tablets for it which they won't even license for us or even let us have. I hope that they do send this type of course over to you because I am sure those who suffer with it would enjoy it and learn to life with it. What people don't understand it's an illness with no cure, you have to live it with and learn how to cope with it.
Thank you ladies for your support.

That's the attitude! Like @swissgirl, I plan on making even the ones I don't like. But that's just the way I am playing. You make and follow the rules that make you smile most!
And, do share the one you choose make, so we ca all be inspired!

Thanks! This is what is called here "macramé" thread. Close to a size 5 or 3, think.
I got the bare thread tool in the mail. Now let me see what i can do with them. Snowflake 1...

Yep, I'm also planning to bring out the Bare Thread Tool for Snowflake 1...
(For those who are curious, it's here: http://www.craftree.com/tools/153)
Both my books arrived earlier than mentioned , Yay ! And my knitting is over. Now it'll be tatting till next winter :-D
Will get working on snowflakes later in the week -- need to tat 4 to catch up .
Is anybody working with size 40 thread ? Any idea of the length of bare thread in 1st snowflake ?
@Muskaan, I am using 40. So far, using the smallest measurement on the bare thread space tool, I am getting around 6-7 mm bare threads. They appear to be about the right size.
Is anyone else's day 2 snowflake rather wavy? I've got 4 points down, 2 to go and it will require some rather aggressive blocking to lie flat. My picots are smaller than in the picture (I did what I'd usually do which is less picoty than what the picture shows.) I'm assuming that's what's causing my wavyness.
@KT, do you mean in Round 2? Yes, I had also problem with it, when I finished, I made it wet, really wet, and brought in form, flat and as desired, and just left it between two papertowels, heavy book on it for about 30 min, and it stayed flat. So it is not yet finally blocked, but I could see it will work. At the end of the challenge I will block and stiffen all of them, but stiffening with this special thing takes time, and I always do as much as I can at the same time. So good blocking as soon as I have some ready, but really stiffening at the end of tatting all snowflake. Hope it helps.
I know that this is the last day of January and there is no way I could get both 1&2 done.... so I thought I'd at least get #1 done.... I spent the afternoon tatting merrily away and was feeling so good about being able to finish and post at least one of them...... & it was looking sooooooooo good! I got clear to the end and realized that I had miscounted the picots on the beginning ring!!! The whole thing is GARBAGE I started over but won't be finishing it tonight.....
I must admit, this was one I avoided, also., but I promised to try it... but probably won't do two of it.
@IdahoCanuck, don't feel bad. I did it about 4 times before I figured it out. I had half the rings around the center done but the bare thread was too long and variable. Just part of tatting, I suppose. I still have the outer round to finish before snowflake 2.
I've finished the day 2 snowflake and I've picked a substitute for day 1 that I don't like. I've chosen http://www.craftree.com/patterns/2357 hopefully it will settle nicely into the mix with the others and is much more me.
