Welcome all on this tat-a-long! I already finished Day 1, but had no time to make a picture, and then was on work for 3 days. So I will post it tomorrow I think. Just have to read and finish all other business things first.
I also made some snowflakes of this book, but the ones I didn't like the techniques (like bare threads) I jumped over. But it will be a challenge now with a lot of people to finish ALL of them! So I don't like bare threads, having always problems with the length and then, of course, it is not laying flat or too much thread. I am not very happy with this one, and I won't tat it again (had to start 3 times), but I am looking forward for those I love!
Excellent Claudia!
I am just on round 1:
I was quite afraid of the bare threads, but it did work out fine! Now on to round 2...

Great. Do you have an estimate of the amount of thread you used on each?
I also found a couple errors in the pattern description. One had a picot missing in the drawing as compared to the photo. I discovered that too late so mine matches the drawing and not the picture. I will look up which one that was and let you know.
yes, I'd love that!

That sounds like fun, making an advent calendar!
I'd love to see your glasswork, I do admire that a lot.

Did I say size 10? I meant 20... Sorry.

Sorry, I have no clue. :) I just wind the shuttles full and then use them up as long as they go, which means sometimes running out during a snowflake and having to join a new thread.
A couple of years ago I found a two dimensional metal Christmas tree card holder at Pier One. I use it year round to hang tatted ornaments. Some of my "ornaments" are beaded and have colored thread. It does not take up much room since it is thin. I wanted to share this in case anyone is looking for a way to display all the snowflakes we will finish. I found a similar one on Amazon to give everyone an example: http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Holder-37-75-Hx26-75-Wx1-25/dp/B015EFYOCU/ref=sr_1_53?ie=UTF8&qid=1453779917&sr=8-53&keywords=christmas+card+tree+holder
Well, okay, I'm in! But I won't produce two snowflakes by the end of January!
I'm a little late to the party but I like the idea of doing this and then pinning them up on little clips like an advent calendar even though I don't really do many Christmas decorations.
I'm in. Not sure if I can stick to it or not but I'll give it a go. :)
I'm right there with you, Grace ,
And more power to us, @KT

it's ok - I do the same. I guessed I had enough for round one in the shuttle but it had a knot so I had to join. I don't like joining on bare thread patterns...
My first snowflakes are in my project page ( 2016 Year Long 24 Snowflake Tat-Along ).
Day 1, well, as I already wrote, I don't like bare threads on tatting projects. Always problems with the right length, and my personal mind, I don't like the look. But it came out ok, so task completed
Day 2 was easier. I used the CTM technique, with one split chain and one split ring. Worked very well. If you do it in two rounds, it is very easy to tat.
Now I am looking for Day 3. The first 2 days were made in DMC30 white, and I already think to make day 3 with some glitter thread, so it want be size 30 this time. I will decide in a couple of days.

You still have 11 month ahead before next Christmas. Or at least 10 if you will use them for the decoration in december. So don't worry, also other tatters may join mid year, just doing more snowflakes per month. The target is to finish all in this book by Christmas 2016!
No stress, just enjoy tatting snowflake.
Well, I'm a bit late, but count me in! Love the idea of making snowflakes! Thinking I might applique them to squares of velvet to make a quilted wallhanging. Maybe I could add a tatted strip to cover the seams, or embroidery? Could use different coloured squares of velvet in jewel tones. Got heaps of velvet in the crazy quilt box. Hmmmm, hafta ponder that one. Can't wait to get started!

Love your idea of how to use them! Got me thinking .... I might convert a few into bookmarks -- can never have enough :-)
Looking forward to your tatting pics :-)
in reply to Minnikin's post:
Great idea.... thinking a deep purple or dark blue background!
in reply to treetopcreations's post:
Thanks for sharing that! That's a great option. I'm looking for something like that to turn it into an advent calendar.

Adding my voice to the "that sounds like a stunning idea" chorus!

Oh, using glitter thread sounds like a fun idea!
