Ok, Day 2 in under some heavy books. It took some cajoaling, but it finally lay flat...
And I started day 3. Potato chip quality, I just want another one!
Like I mentioned when this started, I was already way into making these snowflakes. I started way before Christmas last year. Now I'm finally finished! It was fun, but some of them I really hated making and wouldn't make again. Especially the ones at the end with the twisted chains. I had a hard time getting the lengths right. They turned out ok after blocking though. Some I would definitely make again because they are fun and pretty too.
Congratulations! They do make a stunning collection!

They do look great! Now I have fresh motivation to get started on my 24 - though 'tis the season for hearts, and I just got a pretty pattern in my e-mail Inbox...
I just received my book in the mail.... and it is missing two patterns. I wrote to the company I purchased it from, waiting to hear back from them on what they are going to do to fix the problem. I will get started on making these snowflakes soon, but I feel like I'm so far behind every one else, since I didn't have the book when this started. I do have PLENTY of white thread, since I just received a cone of Lizbeth size 20 from Handy Hands. :-) I think I'm going to have a flurry of snow around here.
That is very disappointing. What do you all think, would it be ok to send angel a picture of the missing patterns per email? It's not that she didn't purchase the book... I would be glad to do that.
I have heard back from the company that I purchased from, they wanted some pictures to see what I was talking about. I will see what they have to say and if they are going to replace my book.
in reply to Ursula's post:
Maybe the company will offer to exchange for a good copy? @Angel135612 can get started with the other snowflakes first...
I'm sure they will make it right, and I have tried to start on the First Snowflake, but not having any luck deciphering the diagram and where exactly to start. I will try later today, and see if I can figure it all out. I'm used to diagrams that show where exactly to start and which way to work. The first snowflake is only showing the number of stitches and not starting point.
Angel135612 's post made me get the book I received last week and check to make sure all the pages were included - glad it was okay. Angel - I am on Day one so you are not alone. My book says it was printed in Dardedze Holografija, Riga with an email contact on the ISBN page. If your book does not have that email let me know and I'll give it to you. If they email you the missing patterns until a replacement book is sent that will avoid copyright problems.

I am missing the title page in my book. So I don't have any of that information. I purchased my book through Amazon and the company was Book Depository US, although they were shipped from the UK. I have gotten a response to my initial email, and have sent them the information they requested. Still waiting to hear back as to what they are going to do to resolve the issue. I have no doubt that they will send me another book with all the pages, but I haven't heard back from them yet.
It looks to me like this is a print on demand type of book as it is brand new, and I think they just had a hiccup when printing. I also purchased Tatted Doilies, by Iris Niebach, and it is the same size/type of book and it was perfect.
My book shows a contact email for: Forlaget Akacia (appears to be the name) and the email of akacia@akacia.dk . My book shows the 8th printing was done 2014 so I bet they would appreciate knowing the issue as it is actively being marketed and apparently farmed out to on-demand services.
@Angel135612 You're not last. I haven't started yet either, and I don't have the excuse of not having the patterns! I have another obligation that comes first but I need to get started, soon.
I also have not started but I had others things to finish first, I will try and get my first one done this week
Margaret
I just received a reply to my inquiry about the book, and they are going to send me another copy. So it will be another week or two before I have that. At least they made it right, and it was going to be awhile before I got to the last two snowflakes that were missing. :-) I appreciate all the offers of help.
I just got my book in the mail. A late start I know, but does anyone mind if I join in?
Jump right in .... you may be starting 'late', but will soon overtake us all, Rachel :-)
Are you going to use size 150 thread ?
I was thinking about it, but the color is more ivory than white. I have white size 100, also a pale blue 100 from LadyShuttleMaker I'm thinking of using. Choices, choices, choices. This will be nice projects when I need a break from my Mega Doily.
I am happy that you join as well Rachel. I do mine in different colors and sizes. Mostly white, but some colors in between as I want to make a "curtain" for the window with with. I think that looks nicer when a part is not only white, especially when, just in case, the next winter brings us more snow then this one. So white in front of white.... at least some nice colors, or glitters or whatever. I am already happy so far to have between size 20 and 80, white, gold-yellow, glitter, red (never again as it is polyester and not easy to work with). I am stuck a little bit at snowflake 7, never made onion rings.
Will have to find out over the weekend.
our tatting group decided to join in as group. Most of the ladies do also make other kind of laces, and they don't want to tat each 24 snowflake, but the 5 ladies together want to join. I hope this is ok, and I will provide you with the pictures, also from our group. We meet once a month to tat and chat.
