I have a bad feeling I am over-extended again. I have 2 done. Too many other things I must finish. May be able to catch up in a few months. I still want to do them.

It's a wise tatter who knows when to back off for a bit. We'll be working on this all year so you have plenty of time to return to the project. Personally, I'm taking it one month at a time. If I don't get all 24 done, I'll still be way ahead of where I'd be had I not committed myself to participate. And I'm having so much fun!

Very nice! Like @tiki2950, I'm also bogged down with other projects, which I got sidetracked from for tatting small gifts. But that's now done, so I can now get back to... the Round Robin Design Challenge! I won't get to these snowflakes for a while.

You are already ahead of me @ladybird :-D
I restarted my Sixth Day last night, abandoning my previous attempt. I think it was too ambitious for me ; climbed out at the wrong point; & wasn't working out neatly. Happy with how the new start is turning out so far.

Hello Lori! @Lej619

This is the thread where the challenge is proposed - the other threads are reserved to each pattern used.

My idea was make two snowflakes from the book linked in the first post of this thread per month, in order, to finish it by December. But you are welcome to join in with any you make from this book.

Happy tatting!

In the Cake Doily I had no problems with bare threads... here.. Ugh... They're waving at me.

It's a little bit late but I'm in. I've started Day Eight now (but skipped Day One - it was a complete failure).

Bayberry... took me Years to not have it be a total failure... We're not here to judge, but to encourage. Better to start bare threads where only a few are needed than a pattern where its ALL bare thread..

I always use a gage for bare threads.

I won't give up, I don't want be scared of bare threads . I will try tat again "Day One" later. Now I'm trying to catch you up and I started my first doily. Think I know now what I did wrong in "Day One". I also use a gauge but at first used too big and made too long picots in the centre. So my Day One was 3D (more like a skirt for a little doll ).

.. So, find the right height doll, and add a narrow ribbon woven around to tie it on.... or make it a lace cape,,

@Bayberry, I had the same experience with a bare thread doily I'm working on at this time. For my first attempt, the threads were way too long in the middle. I think the second attempt is going better...

Good idea Judy .
in reply to GraceT's post:

It would be much easier if the patterns would have specified information about how long should bare threads be. Without it we need to try or guess. Hope your doily will be ok .

Thanks, @Bayberry. I need to get back to that doily! It's a small Teiko Fujito doily with shortish bare threads, so I am trying to eyeball them. The results are not very consistent, but hopefully the overall effect will be okay.
