Hi :-)
Just posted the pictorial here : Rolling out the mental block
The post contains a few pics, some comparative before/after pics, & few other details.
Step-by-step pictorial can be downloaded here : How to Block Lace Using a Rolling Pin.
Hope this helps. Your feedback is valuable .
Happy tatting :-)

Right around the time I bought a set of steel T pins, Ignes posted her rolling pin photo ! So they are lying idle ;-)
I do have a self-healing quilting mat but am too chicken to poke holes in it
An Indian kitchen without a rolling pin is unthinkable. But from straightening out my husband to straightening out lace with it was a fun leap ;-P
Wonderful tutorial! I may need to reconsider my decision not to buy a rolling pin...
My sister has a rack with a dozen rolling pins in it.-- Specialty rolling pins -- glass ones like a bottle you can fill with ice water for hot weather pastry rolling, grooved scandinavian one for lefse., tiny ones for making decorated pats of butter. I can't wait to tell her she'll have to get them down for when she washes doilies from her vast collection! Such a great idea. I had been putting the doily in a towel, then rolling up the towel and putting weight on the roll. This is much neater.
@GraceT a tall straight sided olive bottle would work for small items.

Thanks, @Judy! I'm actually thinking ahead to my Big Doily. But I'm also working on a small doily to learn bare thread spaces. I could try using an olive bottle on that.
