I sort of careened from one emergency to the next for the past few days. No tatting or knitting or anything else for me. Hope next week is better. Oh, not my emergencies, mind you, but things I had to take care of for others. I think it's called "life". It gets in the way sometimes.
WooHoo! I actually tatted a (very) little on the next hanky edging last night and I AM going to tat a little more tonight!!!
I spent some time last night working on the Renulek doily that is my WIP Wednesday project, completing a couple more repeats. So, this evening I focused on a more recent project. I tatted the front of Angela Gambka's Morfo Butterfly.
Well, my handphone went crazy and now I'm waiting for its replacement. More time to tat while riding on the bus!
Yesterday, I finished my model for the Round Robin Doily #3 (and now I'm cogitating on my design for the next round), and today I went back to my Jan Stawasz Big Doily for the first time in a few months, and tatted a couple of motifs.
I was excited to get in a little over 10 minutes. I finished 4 rings on the shawl I have been planning. I've finally finished all the test pieces and started the actual shawl itself. Because it is wool, the feel and the rhythm of the tatting is a bit different. It was a bit slow going, but satisfying to see the first few elements of the actual shawl start coming together. Much better than last week when the day just flew by with no thread in my hands!
It's encouraging to read your WIP Wednesday reports. I also appreciate this little bit of accountability. You help me focus on the goal.
I tat a little most mornings. I misse this Wednesday due to a different schedule. I have also been playing with new patterns out of newly purchased books. I am also working on renulek doily pattern from last year and making great progress. I demonstrated tatting at a local festival last weekend and had about four hours of tatting time. It was great.

Indeed... I picked this pattern because I needed the group's push to get me to do one.
I think I saw the half finished festival elephant earlier today. ..
Hoping to get a few rows of my socks done, most likely at playgroup. I've been generally working on my cardigan which I'm hoping to have finished by mid June.
Ah, it's Wednesday again! I'm at home sick with a cold. I did wind my shuttles for the next motif in my Big Doily, and tatted a chain and a clover...
@GraceT, just because we're on the same side of the globe doesn't mean we're twins. However, I've also been down with a cold, which cleared up and went into seasonal asthma. Finally gave in and saw my dr. Monday because no one in the family could sleep through my coughing. Took her meds for a day and half, but have given up on all of them except the steroid inhaler. This last day and a half I've been sicker than I ever was with the cold, all due sensitivities to the meds. So, quit taking the meds. Last ones I took was last night, and now about 24 hours later, I'm still dizzy, but all the other indispositions are gone. Thought I'd get some work done on socks today, since I'm down but awake. Next time I won't try knitting when I'm dizzy. I've taken the same rows out three times today. So, I'm am quitting till the dizziness goes away. Sorry for the self pity party. Thanks for listening, though.
@Lynn, I'm sorry you are having such a rough time of it. I hope you feel better soon.
Get well, everyone who is ill.
I suffered from gastric flu the last week and was on a rusk-and-fennel-tea-diet
Sleeping a lot and not even in the mood for tatting.
But now it´s better I´ll continue with a bookmark this evening.
Yeah, I'm still not well today! But I'll try doodling on my Round Robin Doily #3 - I have a couple of ideas...
Now to find the Festival Elephant pattern. Still have 2 hours left to work on it
Lynn, i went through 2 months of coughing.. which they called the "flu", but I had no other flu symptoms. finally needed the steroid inhaler, too. . Not only no sleep, but exhaustion, too. I really do understand. I am all-better now, so just hold out for the season.
Sorry to hear there is so much illness! When it isn't germs or virus, it's general aches and pains! Wouldn't it be great if we could all have a life free of both! Despite painful legs, I managed to get out to do our shopping today, then sat down and finished row 6 of Renulek's tat along. Someday I'll do more one the cake doily.
It's Thursday already, and though this week I remembered it was WIP Wednesday, I didn't tat at all yesterday! May is such a crazy busy time. But hopefully I'll do some tatting today, :-)
I made great progress on my WIP this week, although the tatting was actually done before Wednesday. Yesterday was not a good day for tatting. http://www.craftree.com/projects/2910

Thanks, @Judy. This is only the fourth year I've gone through this, but had a bout of sinusitis on top of it. That's the reason I went for meds at all. You're right - the coughing is worse at night and won't let you sleep. So you live exhausted. Glad you finally got the inhaler. It's the only thing that helps.
I am improving. Managed to finish the first wedge of my padded sweet tomato heel today. Tomorrow will be better.
After working long hours all week (while sick too! Seems EVERYONE is sick this time of year!!!) I tried to finish up early enough to spend some time tatting...... Finally! I made it through just one repeat and started into the next (very much enjoying my work & progress....). Then I noticed something wasn't right at the join. I had used the wrong size picot guage at the base element (too large of picots) where the rest of the elements join on.... It would throw things off! I spent the rest of my "enjoyable tatting time" undoing what I had done...
Moral: don't tat when you're tired and not feeling well..... Oh well, there's always next week..... Right?

I feel your pain. It's probably happened to all of us. I try to remember that it's a better time to browse my pattern books or read blogs, even plan the next project, but sometimes the desire to tat wins. Unfortunately, it is rarely a success.
