Ok.....so, I've been following along this whole time... and saving the photos... but I just have way too much going on to get started on anything else... you all know how it is!
Well, I'm tired of tatting white hanky edging! and I need more color in my life! HA! And I needed a reward for finally finishing a round on the latest edging..... That's as good of an excuse as any, right!
So, I broke down and joined the herd, and I started in on it tonight and completed the first 2 rounds.... well, the center medallion part anyway. Now, it's probably back to finishing this edging.
I have found out today, tatting Row 8, that if you will tat the 3 little rings so they overlap like the rings in Row 1, it will not buckle as bad. Just a thought.

Good on you! I wonder how much longer I myself can hold out...
It occurs to me that there is something to be done in row 7 that might help row 8 sit flatter. The ring off the chain in row 7 has 3 picot. The side ones are decorative. The center picot, which is a joining picot, should be kept very small. You will be joining 3 rings to it, but if you keep it small it will force the rings to overlap as happens in the outset of the doily. If that picot is too large, the 3 rings will set side by side, causing a riffled effect in row 8.
No, I will not go back and redo all of rows 7 and 8, but this is how one learns.
@Eagle , yes, the rings overlap, but hasn't made a difference to the ruffle :-(
@amysperch, funnily, I came to the opposite conclusion Following Renulek's tatted sample, I kept the joining picot in Rnd 7 small. Yet there is ruffling. So I thought may be if the picot had been of normal length, the circumference of next round would increase a bit, thus giving more space to the Rnd 8 chains to lie flat !
In any case, a comment on her blog suggests that the ruffling will be taken care of in ensuing round(s).
Totally agree about re-tatting ;-)
Good on you! I wonder how much longer I myself can hold out...
Row 9 has been posted: http://renulek.blogspot.in/2016/05/frywolitkowa-serwetka-on-line_25.html
Renulek says that in another couple of rows, all ruffling will be laid flat :-)
Row 9 is turning ruffles into waves, so she must be right. I have not applied any blocking techniques yet.
I couldn't resist, and started another project! Well, I started 3 times! The first time I was not happy with the first round, it seems to be so big, and I didn't fix the ends good, so there was too much space. So I started again, this time is was ok, continued with round 2 and 3. Then, I had some doubts about it, and checked the pics again from Renulek:
Do you see it? I don't know why, but I tatted 10 inner rings! ups! It layed flat, but the size made me suspicous.
So a new start, I just took the color left on the shuttle, and will make a new color scheme for it. And now I am on my way as well.
As I have a lot of other projects going on as well, I will try to make on everyone something.... but the biggest one are all repetitions, so that's because I need something else beside. Good reason.....
@Judy: Looks like that.... I think, I just took the 10 ds for 10 rings. I can't remember that I counted the rings before. Maybe it was only the TV that distracted me.
I understand... I tat while watching TV. I had an Ankars type motif to do... Needed to shift instructions to single needle from single shuttle... with two types of bead placement. Twice I had to cut the mess apart to get t he beads back for the next effort... TV does interfere..
An appointment was cut short today, oh, and I finished hanky #3! So I suddenly had lots of free tatting time.... YeaH!
I forgot to check the connection locations for round 4 ..... all my round 3 picots were tiny join picots, so I redid round 3 to correct that little snaffoo. Then I was able to complete round 4 too....... it was a very good day!
Round 10 will be posted on Thursday ! So get your shuttles ready :-)
Round 10 is posted here : http://renulek.blogspot.com/2016/06/frywolitkowa-serwetka-on-line.html
FYI - I just started Row 8. In row 7, I used #3 of the Clover picot set for the joining ring. I am pleased to report the three rings of row 8 are laying side by side and not ruffling a bit.
