It's mid week, hump day, Wednesday!! And I am going to be tatting!!!
Well, I'm almost finished re-tatting the first two rounds. Trying to do true rings in one color, and chains in another in round 2 makes for interesting twists and turns trying to figure out how to get the thread in proper position.
And here's Round 11 : http://renulek.blogspot.in/2016/06/frywolitkowa-serwetka-on-line_9.html
She says after this round the doily should lie flat as a pancake :-D
Happy tatting :-)
I've been wanting to tat a doily again for a while now. But since I want to keep up the motif tatting for my scarf I haven't really given myself time to. BUT! I have now decided to start this doily for (at the very least) a WIP Wednesday "other project". I'm on row 4 and enjoying it a lot so far. I'm also happy to be behind all you guys, so I can profit from your experiences in the rounds to come.
Finished row 8 last night and plan to start row 9 tonight.... It looks like a quick one !
Round 12 has been posted: http://renulek.blogspot.in/2016/06/frywolitkowa-serwetka-on-line_16.html
So today was just one of those days where nothing goes right or as planned..... and I knew it going in..... but I needed something to do, to relax, to keep my hands busy..... my mind said " DON'T do it.... don't go there! "
Long story short.... I finally restarted round 9. and really things started out quite well! I was relaxing and in rhythm... enjoying the moment. But that was all it was ... 'a moment' then my thread snapped
I really wasn't far along... cut it off and restarted..... after that it was one mistake after another and now I have another pile of shredded little bits of thread I cut and restarted 4, no..... 5 times! And cut again.... and have nothing to show for it...
I think it's time for bed...... "After all, Tomorrow IS another day!"
Aww... sorry for your bad night, @IdahoCanuck! Yes, tomorrow is another day! (You were quoting Scarlett O'Hara, right? )
in reply to GraceT's post:
Just started mine today. I'm realizing that I need more colors in size 40...
It's very cool to see more and more people start and share their work on this doily
It's WIP Wednesday right now so I get a free pass to work on this today, but I'm a bit stuck on my colour choices for the next round... Colours are hard!
I just finished row 9, which I am doing in size 80. So far it measures about 9".
I've restarted round 9 on the 2016 spring doily..... again.... I think this makes the 9th time I've cut and restarted this round.... so hopefully the 9th restart on the 9th round will be the winner!!!!

Ooloo, it reminds me of the earth very early in the spring, when the buds are just beginning to pop out of the ground -- with promises of more. Very hopeful sign.
Been stuck on the colour choices for about a week now. Many people here inspire me with their work, but it's hard for me to visualise what a colour will do to the impact of a doily. I don't have @IdahoCanuck's courage either, to cut off an entire round if the colour doesn't sit right with me! So I spent quite a while obsessing over visualising, and now I think I'll go with the option on the left for the next few rounds...
Renulek posted Round 14 on Thursday : http://renulek.blogspot.in/2016/06/frywolitkowa-serwetka-on-line_30.html
Just a couple of rounds left, I think. She's getting bored of this serwetka
I've struggled a bit with color selection, too. I've even tatted part of around with more than one option, cut it off, and started with something entirely different. It was only frustrating when I was trying to keep up week to week. Once I gave myself permission to lag behind, it got easier. I really admire your idea, @Ignes, of using a graphics program to figure it out. I may have to give that a try. Slow as I am with my graphics program, it may be faster than tatting and cutting.
@tatknot I have things in my life that needs attending also. I am 4 rows behind...and it's OK with me. (
I am also behind with the rows, but as tatknot writes, you have to stay behind to see the progress and where to change a color. Actually I was thinking of doing a rainbow-color scheme, that would mean to wait until the end and then you see how many rows you will tat, and adjusting the colors and / or nr of rows in the same color. But I don't have all the colors I wanted to use, so I changed it a little bit.
Now I can't tat for a couple of days because I cutted onions, and my finger was in between the knife and the onion...... well, nothing bad, but I don't want to open it again and blood on the thread especially on white, is not good. So it is better waiting, and after 4 or 5 days all is done.
I can do some crochet as I hold it different than tatting, so not out of work, but started another UFO....
