So, for weeks, I had about an hour, twice a week to tat while watching HGTV for our non-stress tests. Baby was doing just fine. Then, one Monday, hubby decided to come with me. I had been having contractions for a couple of weeks, and the doc had to do an exam to see if we were ready to induce (in a couple of days). Well, my little Diva decided that it was her time.
I guess I'm going to have to find more tatting time. This shouldn't be too hard, as the Diva's doctor has her staying inside and away from crowds for the next two months.
OH....she is perfect. And the content momma...you did wonderful!
Hello, all! Sorry I've not been around much. The summer is coming to a close which means Hubby and Elder kid will be back in school, and it will be just me and little Ruth at home all day. My idle hands have not been totally idle, I have finished the first row of the 40 circles and am partially through the second. I'm thinking I may start taking them in groups of ten to finish so I can at least have something to show for myself. Currently, I am using a split ring that came with some embroidery thread holders to keep my rings together.
When not working on that, I have been working on a new tatting design project I call "Jasmine" which I hope to have a good photo of, soon. My goal for the rest of this week between all the laundry and other things I have to catch up on, is to spend some real definite time working on this next part of the project. Thanks to everyone for sticking with it thus far, I have not given up, but when you work on something for so long, life happens. Take care, all, and I will do my best to check in again soon.
Good to hear from you! And yes.... I can agree.... Life definitely does happen whether we are ready for it or not! Ruth is adorable and much more deserving of your time! :). Give her hugs for us!
Popping in to echo Marla. Your little Ruth is a darling. What you get done on your projects is just incidental at this point. We'll all still be here when Ruth doesn't need you, so no rush.
Zombie thread rises from the grave again. I know it's been a while, but here's the latest:
In the meantime I have been planning other large projects. I can't stick to one kind of lace and just bought a book on Turkish/Mediterranean lace flowers, Bebillla, and I am fighting hubby's desire for gnomes with lace covered pillows in all the kinds of lace that I can learn.
Yay for the zombie thread! Wow, looks like you have now reached the outer edge of the entire tablecloth, at least in one of the corners...
That's right! I'm back on track. Currently, I am working on the outer triangles, which I think need to be done before the edging that connects them to the rest of the cloth so that the linen insertions can be sized properly. That's the first one done, but I think I'm going to do them in smaller chunks. I've been spending too much time away from craftree and I need to reconnect with my lace-making peeps!
Glad to see you back at it :) Looking GREAT!
Welcome back, Wodentoad. I'm glad to see your tablecloth progressing. Kudos for convincing little Diva Ruth to give you some time to work on it.
So, chasing after a rolling Diva, I have found a little time to finish the second of four circle corners. It has been a busy holiday, but the work continues!
The great zombie thread rises again! For my birthday yesterday, I finished the third of four circle based triangles. I am on the last one now. I spent some crafting time with my sister who is embroidering blackwork these days. It has been a bear finding tatting time, as you can see by the three month lag in my posts, but if it takes me ten years I will finish this piece, as I feel tied to it.
Yeah! :) Persistence is key!!!
Funny how life so often gets in the way of tatting time. On a brighter note, enjoy your little ones while you can. The tatting will still be there when they get a little older and think they don't need parents any more.
