There's a Chinese expression that would be just right in this situation: 加油 Jia you! (Meaning, Pour on the oil! You go, girl!)

It's been a rough week for me, so I didn't get a lot of tatting done, as I should have finished it earlier. But with some determination, here is the third row of circles finished. I will start the fourth row soon. Picture is not spectacular. I'll probably track down my camera soon so that I can take some good close-up pictures of it to post as well as to place into my final PDF.

It finally feels like I'm getting something done. Now I need to start looking at the border instructions. Row 4 circles will be R3-3-3-3, C4.

Wow! I notice that you're using the floor now to lay out your tablecloth...

GraceT, actually, that's my bed (part of the reason it wasn't laying flat, as it's a tad lumpy). My table had a husband at it, so I had to use the bedroom which has good light. It was also a little blustery today, but now that the warmer weather is here, I'll probably lay it out on a sheet and take some good sunshine pictures of it.

Well, there's been a minor setback. I had finished ten rings on the fourth row, but it turns out that I miscounted the stitches. I did rings of 3-3-3-3 instead of 4-3-3-4. I could leave them, but I think it wouldn't look right if I did. So I have to undo a week of work. Well, it could be worse. I'm not on a deadline and I've got plenty of thread.

Ouch! That is really too bad, and one of my biggest fears! I am always counting and recounting and counting again.... No wonder it takes me so long to finish anything. I am so impressed with your positive attitude and stick-to-itivness! Way to go!

I would have completed the row had I not randomly decided to work on the written pattern, and I would have seen 35 incorrect circles instead of just 10. If anyone has the book, I'm trying to figure out the section of the border around the flower. On the first row of the border, at the corners that lead to the motif insertion panel there's a variation on the border that isn't even alluded to. If anyone has any ideas, I'm listening.

So! Much like when I mow the yard, sometimes I have to take a piece in smaller chunks to give me a sense of accomplishment. I went ahead and re-did row 4 and then did row five on the two petals. Work is progressing pretty fast, so I thought I might go ahead and finish off these two rows. Still puzzling on the corners a bit, but I might have an idea or two, and the last thing I will do in this section are the tiny insertions over the top of the petals.

I'll be working more today, and with the little one out of school it will migrate my tatting time a bit as I won't have that hour that I'm waiting in the car. The tiny glint at the bottom is my Aerlit tatting shuttle (for size comparison).

Judy: Totally not complicated. It's just one small piece at a time, motifs, insertions. Nothing more than rings and chains!

Just... you know... a LOT of them.

Okay, so it's been a while. First couple of weeks of the little one's summer vacation have been a wild ride of visiting family, birthdays and outings, and I've hardly had time to get anything done. Most recently, while on our way back from visiting in Middle Tennessee, I reached down for my tatting only to find that I'd left my backpack with my tatting--the backpack I take EVERYWHERE--in the MTSU book store bag drop. Thankfully, tatting was safe and unharmed and my sister was able to pick it up today. She'll be mailing it back at her earliest convenience. Complete and utter mental breakdown: avoided!

Anyway, I'm within two rings of finishing the next petal. I'm sorta to a point where it's just a long slog. I only have 77 of 200 rings left to go. Of course, it's hard not to remind myself that each of these larger rings is taking 45 minutes to an hour to complete. (Do I tat slowly or is this about average? Not knowing other tatters, I don't have any basis for speed.) I have learned folded joins VERY WELL by now, and I outsmarted myself by keeping a ball of #20 thread in a baggie for a constant supply of the often dropped/lost magic threads.

That's where I am for now, just waiting on my wonderful sister and the Postal Service to get my tablecloth back to me. Right now, I'm going to drown my sorrows in a cup of pudding.

Not sure how to translate complexity, but it takes me about an hour to tat one heart from AnneB's table runner.

I'm happy you got your bag back. I left a bag with all my tatting supplies on a Southwest flight, but never got it back.

I'm going on a trip tomorrow. I decided to bring my almost-completed doily on the flight; I hope I don't misplace it!
