Even in all white it is very pretty! And looking great so far! Ü

I had trouble getting through round #4, it just seemed so tedious and nearly kicked my tail...but I did it! Hoping the rest goes much quicker.

Thanks for the kind words but alas I have discovered a mistake that threw the count all off and therefore cannot finish...feeling annoyed, sad, discouraged, and a bit angry at myself. UGH!

Can you just modify the next round to get back on track? There are no rules that say you have to stick to the pattern... You could leave it as it is too, as it is pretty as is. Or, you could add a simple edging if you feel it needs something to finish it off.

ahhhhh.... I see where it went wrong... 'IF' you really wanted to fix it this is what I would do.... you could cut where the missing stitches belong in the last two rows and untat a little in each direction either side, tie in new thread and tat the missing stitches reconnecting back to the existing. A lot of work I know, but less work than starting over!

Thanks ladies, I figured out how to get the wrong pics out and the right one in...duh! Wish I'd tried different colors but I wasn't even sure I'd be able to complete any of it so I kept it all white.

Hey, Renulek did hers in white, so you are in good company.

You have a very good eye, Marla. I don't see any errors. I think it looks great.

I am still stuck on Row 5, thinking about the adjustments I'm going to have to make. I think I am going to spray block the snowflakes where they are in place, pin it out a bit and then see what the space I have to bridge will really be. In the mean while, I am happily tatting round Row 8 of the Honey Napkin and doing the pieces to 'make' a doily from one of Jon's motifs.

Yeah, row 5 is the pain for me too! I don't like doing medallions & joining....I have several doilies that I'm actually working on and it is the medallion row on each of them that I keep getting "stuck" on...lol I should know by now that I hate doing the medallions and quit picking doilies that have them, but the doilies I'm workiing on are SO pretty...lol

thanks for the inspiration and encouragement. I stared at it for about 20 minutes and finally...snip, snip! I took the plunge and just now finished fixing the original mistake and now gonna put it aside and get a new look at the rest of it tomorrow morning (I have a headache from all the undoing and redoing) feeling less discouraged and defeated

Aahh... I managed to find the error after reading Marla's comment. I'm glad you're fixing it, mrsdrlow! Yeah!

I dropped my row 7 in the group-pictures

A little disaster: I was almost finished with my row 9, and then I found I missed one motif in row 6. So I could not close well the last chain in row 9 correct. So I cried a little bit and cut away row 6,7,8 and 9 and will start again with row 6. I hope I have enough thread, maybe I have to order more. I will will see how far I can go on.

Aww... Sounds like a fairly big disaster in tatting terms.

Sonja, I am so sorry to hear about your disaster. I hope the new rows go quickly for you.

I thought this might be too much of a challenge for a newbie like me but here I am beginning round 8, it's laid out on the floor becauseI used size 10 thread, it was all I had and I thought it would be easier. I have already started another in some size 30 which is much more reasonable to work with.

It looks great! Just because something is big doesn't mean it has to be difficult.... besides, it is good to step outside your comfort zone and tackle a challenge. I'm still working on the last row, I haven't had much time to tat but I'm about halfway around... just a little at a time!

Well I am completely obsessed so whenever I have free time I tat. The snowflake row and the two little pieces to tie in the snowflakes were really a pain but I kept going. When I can't sleep it keeps me busy and when I need time to think it's perfect! I am so glad I found this group and this pattern, I can't read how many stitches are in the outside chain in the last row, is it 5?

The outside chains are 5-5.... Except where they connect to the previous round... Then they are as follows: 4-4, connect to previous round, 4+4, start first ring of next group.
hope this helps... ( I am going to get to tat instead of work tonight! Ü )

I too am still on the snowflake row, I started it back in January but as most of you know we had two deaths in the family within 24 hours so I lost interest in it and it sat for months, I picked it up again and did a few snowflakes and made a couple of pairs of earrings in finer thread from the snowflake pattern (they I think are in my album).
i actually picked it up again yesterday and made one snowflake, I had an op a week ago and I can't bend or lift or do anything for five weeks, it's been a bad week not felt like doing anything very sleepy and sore, its also been too hot to knit, or tat at times.
i see on your picture you have another little bit between the snowflake, I only have the middle bit between the snowflakes have I missed a bit, I really have got fed up with this mat at times, one day it will get finished the way I am going I won't say when.

Thank you, I kept zoming in and just couldn't read those numbers. Hope you had a great time tatting..
