After the disaster of making a mistake in row 6 whem I was almost finished I started again from row 5. Row 6 is finished, I needed a new Lizbet 80 nr. 107, was afraid that I had not enough. Now I I started with row 7. Some day it will be finished.

Beautiful work.

intatters-attachment I've finished row 8. The doily is so big now that it's quite difficult to photograph.

Wow, looks great. Just popped over to your blog and saw your answer to my question there about the size. So, this will be over 60 cm wide when it's done, eh? What will you do with it? I want to tat a big doily, but I do have trouble thinking of a use for it!

Noavatar
S

I might give it away, seeing as it's outgrown the table I intended it for! I guess I should check that the person I'm thinking of giving it to has a place for it.

intatters-attachment I've finished it. I stood on a chair to take the photo. Is there an album or something where all the finished doilies can be seen together?

Looks great! A group was created for photos of this doily, but not many people have actually posted their pictures there. http://www.intatters.com/group.php?groupid=33

Thanks Grace. It would be nice to see more photos there, instead of having to go through the whole of this thread.

It's wonderful!

Volevo scusarmi con tutti voi per l'assenza ma a video si apriva una pagina che non mi portava al forum ma ad un sito che non so cosa fosse!! Finalmente adesso funziona di nuovo e a breve posterò i miei progressi.

I wanted to apologize to you all for the absence but in the video you opened a page that does not take me to the forum but at a site that does not know what it was! Finally now it works again and will post soon my progress.
I translated with google translate, I hope it is right.

Thanks for translating for us, Orange Juice, and glad you are back! I suppose you know that we've had problems with InTatters being hacked, but now it's okay.

Round 6 complete finally. Not sure why it took as long as it did but alas, it is so. Sure hope these last rounds go much quicker as I am finding myself becoming less interested in this piece. Need to stay focused and push on.

Mrsdrlow, I think your doily is coming along quite lovely. Hang in there, the end is near.

It looks lovely! I found that one way to keep myself focussed when working the later rounds was to mark them into quarters, with a contrasting thread, to give myself smaller targets to reach.

Mrsdrlow, you are not alone, I am in the same place, mine sits on the coffee table and looks at me, I pick it every so often but the round just seems to go on and on, I took it to the hospital last week while I had to wait for my hubby to have some biopics down. Hopefully one day it will be done, I have lost interest in it twice once at the beginning of the year when my husbands dad died, it took me a couple of months to get back to it then, I left it when I went on holiday, must try and do more rather than look at it.

Ah, I can see that tatting a doily is not just about tatting skill; it tests the spirit...

Definitely, you have hit the nail on the head, it's a question of patience, and just keeping going.

Patience indeed! Thanks y'all, I feel like I have my own set of cheerleaders pushing me on to the prize. It's great to know I am not the only one that can find a larger project difficult and troublesome to complete due to lack of interest. However, I do find myself with a mental list of these types of larger projects that I want to do as they are just too gorgeous and intriguing to pass up. I must be one sick woman to want to continue doing this to myself. No matter, it is tatting and I love it and will never give in to my ridiculous moodiness. It's TATTING!

The are are doilies and doilies, but one this big does require a certain amount of doggedness! My tactic was to just keep going until it was done, I was afraid that if I stopped I'd never get back to it. Cheering you on, Leah.

I like having small projects to switch off to, if I get bored working on a large doily. Some of those bigger rounds and take what feels an eternity to get around. So I make myself do a few repeats per day and then tat on something else. Takes me awhile, but the progress continues.

These flowers are the reason why I will never tat this doily! I don't like to start so many little pieces.
OK,**once** I did a rectangular doily with 28 little squares. (Want to take a look?)

I love the look of most doilys from Jan Stawasz, but they are full of those little pieces

Congratulations to all of you who mastered this challenge or are on their way.
