For row 2 I kept messing up the number of stitches in the chain that loops around the ring. By the time I got to row 3 I mostly had it figured out.
My, aren't you clever, Spazmelda !!! I literally had to go round the Round 3 Many times, to locate your mistake & it took a while before I spotted that tiny bit of extra chain where you probably missed the "V" & ring. The missing element has been added so neatly ! You've shown us a new way to fix mistakes
Since I'm going to be on row 4 for a while, I'll post a pic. I think I'm almost 3/24 (1/8) of the way through. Lol.

I'm working on round 3 so I'm bringing up the rear here. You are not alone, hehe
Oh yay! Someone to keep me company :)
I'm taking a break for the rest of the day. My son told me I was doing too much 'yarning'.
Spazmelda, that was a really clever fix! Took me a really long time to spot it.
For Round 4, be sure to double-check the number of repeats before going on to the next round. I remember that another tatter missed out one of the repeats and didn't discover it until Round 6 or so, and then she had to cut it all off and insert the missing repeat.
Spazmelda, your doily is working up beautifully . I love your colour choice - very subtle, very elegant :-)
It's always exciting to see a new version ( they all look so different!) and I love greens! Ü
I didn't realize, but my color scheme so far is very similar to one earlier in this thread. I plan on adding some more colors in later rounds.
Question, speaking of later rounds... I was looking ahead to row 5. What do you call the chains that go around a ring, like what she has in the little element that goes between the snowflakes? I need to find a tutorial for that, but I don't know what to call it. Or, if anyone can give me a little lesson in how that element is tatted?
I think you would call them 'Onion rings'...... but they are not difficult.....
you start with tatting the center ring then reverse work... tat the first 1/2 of the first chain, join to a snowflake tip picot as shown, tat the second 1/2 of the chain and join to the center picot of the center ring... tat the floating ring (then I joined back to the picot) tat the first 1/2 of the next chain (join to the next snowflake if you have already done them all) then tat the second 1/2 of the chain to get back to the beginning of the center ring & join to the base of the ring. You then tat the final floating ring and tie it off to the base of the center ring.
Hope this helps. :)
Whew, just over halfway done on row 4. Starting to get a little tedious. Also, tatting fairy brought me some stuff!

Looking very nice!!! I just love the Tatting Fairy Ü she brought you some pretty colors to play with.
Oh yours is looking good. I love those boxes that show up full of chocolates(aka thread). I've got one on order but it should be here before I know it. My doily is going slow. I forgot how I joined the sideways lying ring and that led to lots of trial and error. None the less, I'm back on track and I'll continue to forge on.
After a long hiatus, I have pulled this WIP from the pile to complete. I am still stuck on the snowflake row. I have all the snowflakes in place but the small tatted between piece just isn't working out. I've tried increasing my stitch count, but by the time I make it big enough to go into the space, the insertion looks distorted. I'm reconsidering my options. I'm thinking of reworking the insertion piece somehow so that I can get on with this doily and finish it.

Hi @Elfiona . It was your choice & placement of colours that inspired my working of this doily So glad to see you getting back to it :-)
I made the 2 small motifs between snowflakes in one pass, attaching as I went. (I did a diagram to show techniques used, in order to get right positioning of colours) . This round did seem just a bit tight, but laid flat with simple blocking.
The next round also ruffles, but it all comes together in the end.
I tatted it in size 40 . That reminds me -- I still need to add pics of the final rows to my project page & also blog about it ;-P
Thank you, Muskaan. It tickles me that I inspired you, since I have long admired your work. = )
I'm not having trouble with tatting the motifs, but after putting five in place the snowflakes are buckling and the small motifs are stretched. I think that if I could make the joining part a bit longer, it would solve the problems I'm having. What I am considering right now is instead of a plain join to the snowflake, making a tiny thrown ring and join that to the snowflake picot.
Woo Hoo!!! I have finally finished this doily.

I'm not pleased with the last two rows. And when I went back to get some details from Renulek's website, she didn't like it either. She retatted the doily with the last two rows changed. I like her changes better, but I it is too late for me to do them. http://renulek.blogspot.com/2015/09/serwetka-sniezynkowa-po-raz-drugi.html
All the same, it's great that you finished! I need to do the same for some of my projects...
Thanks, Grace. I agree. At least it is completed and I can go on to something else (l like the NEW doily Renulek has started posting for Spring 2016).

So, it's six years later, but I just have to thank you for this post. I was having trouble seeing the numbers too, and now I'm halfway that round.
