My Wednesday WIP was spent frogging two white panels with a lace center-- supposed to have been a shawl, but there was no plan for how to put the panels together, nor was there a plan to keep it from stretching outrageously since it was knitted for me on very large needles.. But, I can use the yarn on baby and wedding items; I frogged away happy..
I managed to complete a few more repeats in the final round of the Spring 2014 Renulek doily. Just 7.5 repeats left to go.
I spent nearly the whole day with tech support trying to get my computer to work. It's not done yet! But yesterday I was able to complete a bit more on the cake doily before my hands began to hurt. That will have to count for my Wednesday project. With patience it will get done.
BTDT... as in been there, done that... just last week, trying to install a new wireless scanner... my sincere empathy. No rush on the doily.
I'm in the naughty corner. Instead of working on WIPs, I bought a whole bagful of bright yarn and starterd crocheting a snuggly for my granddaughter. My son married his sweetheart of seven years last September. It was a Court ceremony because they didn't want to wait another year. But the fairy tale wedding is this September. I already made the Rose Bower bedspread for them. So it's Ten year old Maddys turn. I don't know if there is actually a pattern for this thing I'm making. It's three strands of DK yarn held together and single crocheted throughout with a Q hook. It goes very fast and looks amazing. I know Maddy will love the colours. Expect to be finished with it in a couple of weeks. Then back to WIPs. Promise.
I'm in the naughty corner too I worked on getting the stitch counts and colors right on a butterfly that will be part of a graduation present. I justified it as a WIP because I had spent several days working through what technique worked best for me for the block tatting included in the pattern. I reasoned that those previous efforts permitted it to qualify as a WIP . I too promise to behave better once this time sensitive project is done!
Yes, @jmjtat! Time sensitive projects must trump (NO political allusion intended) WIPs.
Tiny WIP finished. I detached some vintage tatted edgings from the pillow-case hems they were sewn onto. I actually can't figure out how it was done. The edgings must be in No 80 or 100,,, way too small for me to create. Three little picots made the tatting side, but the thread came from inside the hem out to the picot for each. Next---, how to put the edgings back to use.
Well... I wasn't able to get any tatting in for Wednesday...... or all week for that matter.... until tonight! And I finally made great progress on my hanky edging!!! in fact, after about 6 weeks, I was able to finish off the first round!
@IdahoCanuck Hooray! ...and what a pretty pattern, too
Out of the naughty corner this week. I did work on the snuggley, but I also worked on my sock and worked a bit on the snowflake project. Feeling good about myself for now.
I'm sorry, but WIP Wednesday's is just not working out for me....... it seems that mid week I just have no time......For anything!
I'm going to have to switch to TWIP day! Thursdays-Work-in-progress...... or maybe even FWIP day!
I got a lot done on the second row of my edging last night.... and I'm nearly 1/2 way around!
Of course it's a much simpler tat and there are no beads to mess with. Meanwhile, with adding the 2016 Renulek doily, and ignoring the snowflake tat-a-long, my WIP pile seems to be growing....
Well, on Wednesday I travelled from Singapore to Kuching, and I got no tatting done. I must give a bit of time to it tomorrow...
The WIP cake doily lost out again to Spring tat along in white. I can only say row 9 is sailing along so smoothly it was impossible to stop the momentum.
My WIP this week was an old Australian newspaper napkin ring. I had started it some time ago to see how it looked as an elaborate bracelet.. Still a WIP... need to add thread..
I finally remember WIP Wednesday. While my granddaughter was taking her ballet class, I worked on the interlinked ring binding (http://craftree.com/projects/2988). To get that finished, I'll have to make that my Wednesday project.
What a great idea- I have quite a few WIP to finish...perhaps will pull one out and try for Wednesdays to chip away at it.
I made some progress on the butterfly I have been working on. On Wednesday, I added a few squares to the block tatted section of one wing, but it may have to be redone. It is slow going. Alot of trial and error to modify stitch counts so that it will lay flat. Just about every chain needs to be longer than the original pattern calls for. Guess my tension is just different. Trying not to get frustrated
I looked at my cake doily, and moved it from one side of the room to another. I find I will need to do some retro tatting, including opening a ring, to add stitches to a chain or it simply will not fit right. Does that count?
@jmjtat, your first wing looks good! Of course, we hope that the second wing will now match it...
@amysperch, of course it counts! I did no tatting at all. It was Harvest Festival here, and I rode with friends and visited people's open houses and ate three lunches...
A friend has just had a little girl so everything has been dropped while I make a little jacket for her.
Cleaning and resorting organizing my stash is always a WIP. worked on that.
