Looking at my pile of unloved and banished WIPs I realise I need an intervention so this year I will be embarking on WIP Wednesdays.
What's a WIP? It's a Work In Progress. They can be current and zipping along nicely, but many of us have a few that for whatever reason ended up in the naughty corner and have been reluctant to come out and show their faces again.
The rules are on Wednesdays you must work on one of your WIPs and post a photo of it. If you post to Instagram or Twitter please use the hashtag #WIPW (if you don't know what that sentence means feel free to ignore it!)
You can choose whether you work on it for 10 minutes or if you make the entire day only about WIPs, but the idea is to stop those projects stagnating.
Does not have to be confined to tatting cos sometimes it's the tatting that is stopping you from finishing that piece of embroidery or sewing in the ends on that hat.
What a wonderful idea! I have a dress that has been sitting for three years with a tatted edging half-sewn onto it - that will be my project this Wednesday!
Guilty as charged ! I have a cross stitch piece that falls in that category. I love the pattern, but can't decide if I chose the right color linen to work it on. Bet I'd be amazed at what I could accomplish in 10 minutes!
Good idea! It will also let me ease back into knitting again. Tendonitis has halted that needlework but since I'm doing better, I want to pick it up again but not too much at once. Limiting it to one day might be just what I need. And that way, I can still keep up on my tatting after such a long hiatus.
I will join and post my progress. I had decided earlier that the year 2016 was for UFOs! I have a lot of unfinished items hiding in many corners. I did manage to finish my Renulek's Honey Napkin and Snowflake Napkin (just) this year, but I hadn't taken photos yet. I do have them l ready to photograph and will post those tomorrow to start. I have a bunch of tatting that only needs that last teeny bit of finishing for them to be complete (like, blocking, finishing ends, stiffening, etc.). And yes, I do have tons of sewing and embroidery as well. I'm trying very hard to NOT start anything new this year, but you know you can't put a lid on creativity.
EDIT: And I have over 20 Clover tatting shuttles and could only find a few uncommitted ones. So another goal to go with completing all these unfinished projects is to free up my tatting shuttles.
I could name a few tatting WIPs right now.
WIP Wednesdays are a great idea and might be the little push that I need to continue (and finish) those projects.
I think this is a grand idea and is something that just might get those dusty projects jump started again...... I'll really have to see if I can make it doable....
Too many WIPs to mention in various crafts. I like the idea to pick one each Wednesday and work on it.
Count me in! I've got some I should ditch as the tatting of them was not bringing me any pleasure, but there are also some I would really like to complete.
Lovely idea. I make no commitments at this time, but will certainly think about it. Hm. Perhaps I detect why some of my WIPs could more accurately be described as UFOs.
Well, I've done a bit of work on my WIP. I've done about 1/4 of the sewing that I need to do...
I did some work on my latch hook rug that's been languishing. Got about a third of the way around so that's some decent progress.
I took up the mystery cake doily again, and am attaching it to the base. Can you believe someone tatting at medium level has never attached an edging? Anyway, it had discouraged me to the point of not tatting at all for several weeks, so thanks for starting WIP Wednesday to provide motivation.
One down! I finally finished my Snowflake Doily by Renulek that I started back in 2013. It didn't really take me that long to tat it, but I had to put it aside to finish some other items that had deadlines.
I'm going to have to defer my work till next week as I spent all day packing, watering a myriad of orchids and houseplants, and running errands! I leave for vacation in the morning and should have plenty of down time to work on a couple of WIP that I have chosen to take with me...... so... we shall see if all my planning will pay off!

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

Oooh! I missed that one. That is really pretty.

That is a really lovely doily. It greatly temps me.
I don't have any picture to share, but I did work on one of my WIP. only did a couple of rings and chains, but it's still a few more knots that there were the previous day.
My WIP Wednesday accomplishment was very small, but I guess it is still progress. I found the other color linen I'm considering and the scroll bars for my crossstitch frame. Yesterday, it was hard to find even 10 minutes, but small steps....

If you manage 10 minutes every Wednesday then in just 6 weeks you'll have spent an hour on it. Over the course of a year you could have done over 4.5 hours.
It's Saturday, and I did a bit more sewing down of my edging to my dress. The more you stitch it down, the more points you think ought to be stitched down...
I am celebrating a sort of WIP Week, trying to get some sewing done, if possible at least for an hour daily. Lots of odds and ends, an apron from last year, bandanas, etc. Let's see how far I can take it before I tire out and put everything back I it's place ( the sewing room is quite a mess at present & the hubster's patience is running thin but I'm turning a blind eye I deaf ear
