Chain tension is important on this doily, they need to be tight. I would recommend a size 30 thread. This one is done in 20, which is ok, but just a hint too big. The only modification I made was in joining a picot on the final round of chains for stability. Otherwise this is an accurate representation of the pattern.

Blocking in 3 stages, since this needs to be as solid as possible. 1)Water 2)Spray Starch 3)Aleene's fabric stiffener. That should do it!

Maybe it's the starch in combination with the fabric stiffener, but something has given the doily a glazed look I've never gotten on previous uses. You have to look closely to see the stitches. It looks and feels like plastic. Perfect!
